From the cottage, a multitude of destinations
For lovers of walks, history enthusiasts, or both, the convenient location of Cottage Christine serves as an ideal starting point for a wide variety of excursions. Indeed, the region benefits from an excellent road network. Within an hour, you can find yourself in Luxembourg City or deep in the nearby Vaux-sur-Sûre forest, just minutes away. In Vaux-sur-Sûre alone, there are nearly a dozen marked walking trails available… This list is quite limited, as our beautiful region is full of places to explore.

Anlier Forest
Just 20 kilometers from the cottage, you’ll find the Anlier Forest. Spanning 82,000 hectares, it is one of the largest forested areas in the Belgian Ardennes. Two rivers, the Sûre and the Rulles, border this mostly deciduous forest (80%). Notable features include a highest point at 517 meters and an exceptionally rich variety of wildlife and plant life. Among the species you might encounter is the black stork, the park’s emblem. The park offers no fewer than 89 marked walking trails and 18 marked mountain biking routes. A must-see destination…

Hiking near Cottage Christine
Vaux-sur-Sûre is particularly well suited for hiking. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced hiker, a wide range of options is available to you. Among them are the Héron Trail (15 km, all levels), the Chevreuil Trail (9 km, all levels), the Hibou Trail (10 km, all levels), the Hollange Loop (7 km, all levels), the Bercheux Loop (16 km, moderate difficulty), the Truite Trail (3.2 km, easy, passing through Ardennes pastures and forests), and more.

Bouillon Castle
Located 45 km away, Bouillon Castle has stood for over 1,000 years on three rocky promontories overlooking the Semois River. It is one of the few medieval castles that have withstood wars and the passage of time. In addition to the fortifications designed by Vauban, it now houses a museum.

Bastogne War Museum
Opened in 1976, the museum immerses its visitors in the reality of the conditions experienced by soldiers who took part in one of the key battles of World War II: the Battle of the Ardennes. The museum houses numerous collections donated by passionate contributors. Not far from the museum is the Mardasson Memorial, dedicated to the American soldiers who fell during the battle.

Luxembourg City
Just an hour’s drive from Vaux-sur-Sûre, the capital of Luxembourg is definitely worth a visit. Whether you’re a fan of shopping, on the lookout for good deals, or simply a food lover, the city offers a wide range of reasons to explore it. Museums, city walls, the Corniche, the Grund — the city is full of many surprises waiting to be discovered without moderation. A day full of adventure!

Neufchâteau, its beautiful lake, and surrounding area
For water lovers, Neufchâteau Lake offers the perfect getaway. Thoughtfully developed, you’ll find aquatic activities in the summer, a playground for children, and several (excellent) breweries for the parents… From the lake, many hikes begin, taking you through forests or clearings with a variety of landscapes, some rugged, some gentle.
And also...
Less than an hour’s drive from the cottage, our beautiful province, its immediate surroundings, and even neighboring countries offer such a vast array of discoveries that a book wouldn’t be enough: natural, cultural, culinary, and historical riches all packed into a small area. This is a concentration rarely found elsewhere.
In this slideshow and in order: La Roche, Le Hérou, Durbuy, Saint-Hubert Forest, Plopsaland, our beers (here Achouffe in Houffalize), our fries and snacks (here, King Snack in Neufchâteau, delicious fries and hamburgers).
Finally, our apologies to those we’ve missed, because, as I said, our beautiful province is full of treasures.
